How to manage Acne and Scars
Who doesn’t love to have a healthy and glowing skin? Most of us at some point have sudden pimple outbreaks on the face, back, shoulders or neck. This happens especially during puberty which is why many teenagers experience acne.
In Ayurveda, Acne Vulgaris is correlated with mukha dooshika/ Youvana Pidaka; vitiation of Vata , Kapha, Pitta dosha and Rakta dhatu leads to inflammatory condition of the skin. Ayurvedic texts state mainly the following two therapies for this condition:
*Shodhana: Cleansing the body
*Shamana: taking internal medication and external application.
There are some easy steps that we can take and a few simple lifestyle changes which may reduce your skin problems.
- Stay well hydrated
Drinking plenty of water is very important to keep every organ of the body healthy. It helps flushing out the toxins from the body.
- Avoid exposure to sun
You must limit your exposure to the hot sun as much as possible. When going out during the day, make sure to cover the face and arms and apply herbal sunscreen lotion. (Protective Sunscreen Lotion)
- Know your skin type
People with oily skin are more prone to acne. For people with sensitive skin, using too many products may damage your skin. So knowing your skin type- whether it is dry, oily, combination or sensitive -can help you determine which products to use safely and which one you should avoid.
- Wash face frequently
Removing excess oil, dirt, sweat by washing the face with warm water along with ayurvedic face wash (Purifying Neem Face wash, Oil Clear Lemon Face Wash, Natural Glow Kesar Face Wash, Clear Complexion Brightening Face Wash) helps to kill bacteria that can cause inflammation but don’t overdo it.
- Avoiding the cause
Avoiding the cause is very important. Exposure to extreme weather, stress, hormone therapy, overuse of cosmetics & beauty products, use of certain drugs may harm your skin slowly. Reduce stress, do meditation or yoga which calms your mind.
- Follow the healthy eating habit
Eating the right food at right time is very important. Avoid excess junk, oily, spicy food and include organic spices and cold pressed oils while preparing food. Eat lots of fresh fruits & vegetables, Vit C & Vit E rich food which is good for skin.
- Medication
