Health Tips for the Summer
Health Tips for the Summer
The prime principle of Ayurvedic system of medicine is prevention of a potential health issue. This can be achieved mostly by a few lifestyle modifications and dietary changes in response to climatic condition. To maintain the health of a healthy person, following proper Dinacharya (daily regimen) and Ritucharya (seasonal regimen) is very important and clearly mentioned in ancient texts. If the body is unable to cope with these seasonal variations, it may lead to vitiation of Dosha in the body which leads to one or the other kind of diseases.
Summer season is considered as Grishma Ritu in Ayurveda. During this season people will suffer from the ill effect of intense heat. There are a few lifestyle changes and dietary changes mentioned in Ayurvedic text which must be followed in day-to-day life as it helps to maintain a good health condition during the summer season.
Stay Hydrated
During summer season our body loses water so it is essential to replenish this lost water to keep the body's electrolytes in balance. Drinking water and other liquids such as fresh fruit juices, buttermilk, coconut water, sugarcane juice, lemonade etc is to be practiced. Drinking Ayurvedic herb infused water can help keeping you hydrated. Adding mint leaves for refreshment, cucumber for cooling, jeera to soothe stomach etc into your routine can help support your health. You can also use some readily available nutritional supplements.
- Sheethasudha (Dootapapeshwar): It is a natural coolant and neutralizes excess heat in the body.
